Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Greenwich Free Library were established in 1969. The Friends are a group of people of the community interested in libraries and convinced that library service is important to all; whose primary aim is “selling” their library to the community. The Friends of the Greenwich Free Library are interested in awakening the community-at-large to a more comprehensive understanding of the library, to stimulating widespread use of its outstanding collection and services, and to encouraging active and financial support for the needs of the library.

Annual membership to the Friends is a bargain at only $5.00.

Friends Book Sales

The Friends run the  Boomerang Book Sale  on the first Thursday of the month, from 4:00-7:00 pm.

* Bi-Annual sales are held in October and June (during Whipple City Days), and during these two months, there is no Boomerang Book Sale.

Book Donations are accepted at the Library during LIBRARY BUSINESS HOURS ONLY and please remember: We love books published within the last ten years, or scarce books from the past. Please No damaged, moldy or musty books, no puzzles, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, catalogs, textbooks or Readers Digest/National Geographic collections-these types of donations DO NOT SELL and require us to bring them to the transfer station, so please RECYCLE THEM ON YOUR OWN-THANK YOU.

Friends Scholarship

The Friends of the Library and the Greenwich Free Library offer a scholarship to a graduating senior going into the fields of Library Science, creative writing or journalism.
